Sept. 17, 2012: Our class is participating in a health education program that is sponsored by the TN extension service and Pickett Co. Health Department. Last week we learned about food safety. This will take place on Wednesdays. Look for updates.
Who will win?? Cats or Dogs. Each child has been asked to join a team to read with, they have been logging in their minutes at www.scholastic.com/paws. For every 20 minutes that are read and recorded at the website a book is donated to a child and or a program that encourages literacy. READ FOR YOUR TEAM!! Many students have brought in their reading logs so that I can log them in, it only takes a few minutes. At last check, Cats were leading the race in my classroom. Go Cats! (They have the smallest amount of members)
We are working on lots of number study , including fast facts of addition and subtraction, and working with regrouping of addition and subtraction problems in Math. We are working on sentences, pronouns, synonyms, antonyms, following directions,dictionary skills, and lots of story element/ development practice in Reading and Language Arts. We continue to observe our bean plant that we started in our Science lessons. We are concluding our lessons on cultures around the world this week in Social Studies.
There has been a nasty virus going around school. Please remind your child to was their hands after they return home from school. Hopefully this will help protect the health of your family.
